A cycling holiday with us is special
There are many excellent companies offering cycling holidays in France, but we like to feel that we offer quite a different experience to the others.
What makes us different?
From the very beginning Breton Bikes was unique in not only offering hotel holidays, but also lightweight cycle camping holidays in France. Even now we can't find another company in France (or anywhere) doing the same. Obviously the cycle camping option is far cheaper than our hotel holidays, but for many people cycle camping makes for a very special holiday where you really do have a feeling of independence and become part of the countryside you are passing through. The brilliant campsites make France a relatively 'soft' place to cyclecamp, but I for one like a hot shower at the end of the day!
Unique choice of Hotel, B&B and Gite Holidays
From that beginning we expanded into offering hotel and B&B based holidays. These tiny places - sometimes just three rooms - are very different from some 4* establishment other companies might use, but they are the sort of places we like to stay in ourselves - friendly, welcoming, clean, characterful and most importantly very, very 'French'. You've come a long way so why stay in some place little different to what you have at home? Or you can stay in the heart of a magical little Breton village in one of our Gites - no other company has this sort of choice.
We are the only company running holidays all over Brittany (an area the size of Wales) in particular the rural heart. Why? - because it's simply the most varied, beautiful and cycle-friendly part of France. You can read the heavy sell elsewhere on this site, but without exception everyone who comes here simply falls in love with the place.
Then there's the gear we supply - it's all very like the equipment that we use ourselves, it's not cheap hire bikes but rather stuff we've selected very carefully and which is more than capable of serious touring
Lastly there is 'us'. Kate and I (Geoff) live and breath Breton Bikes - we don't do anything else and we don't employ anyone. After 49 years of cycle touring (Kate started at 13!) and 33 of running Breton Bikes we have massive experience and please read our 'mission statement'. Everything to do with the business is run by us - website, route planning, bike maintenance, back-up and so-on. It means that not only is an email to Breton Bikes going to be answered by people who really care about what we offer, but at every stage you are advised, helped, kitted out and looked after by the people who directly own the business. This makes us the most personal company out there.
